Florida State vs. North Carolina

Tonight's lone FBS game is between Florida State and North Carolina. Judging by the records it looks like it could be a bad game. But the thing is there is such a long back story to it it could turn into a dog fight. Florida State and Bobby Bowden need this one more than North Carolina, and that is why I think they will take this one. Florida State has played in 27 consecutive bowl games. That is amazing. If they lose just twice in their remaining 6 games they will miss the bowl season. It is amazing how some programs rise and fall. I remember at the turn of the century how amazing Florida State was with Peter Warrick, Chris Weinke, Snoop Minnis and many others. Those were great teams. I hope Florida State gets it together.

Thought that I would just give a shout out to the Wild and their amazing victory last night against the West leaders, Avalanche. The Wild are now 2-6-0 and last place in the conference with 4 points.

The Pengiuns and Rangers are Class of the East

After tonight's win over St. Louis, their first over a Western Conference team this year, the Penguins have truly sent a message to the league that they mean business in pursuit of their second straight Cup. Even though the Rangers lost last night I still think these two teams will meet for the Eastern title. I couldn't imagine the amazing play of rookie Michael Del Zotto. Scoring points everygame, plus Marian Gaborik just does what he does. As a Minnesota Wild fan it is crushing to see how well he is playing. He never played an entire season with us because he would always get hurt. Great player.

With both LCS at 3-1 it just occurred to me how lackluster the MLB playoffs are this year and how we possibly could be heading into another ridiculously horrible World Series. A series hasn't gone to even 6 games since 2003.

Great West Conference

I can't wait for midnight madness and the fourth division one season for the highlanders especially now that they are in the Great West Conference. That does not make sense for them because they are from New Jersey but it should be a fun season. Last year was ugly.

Pitino Should Be Fired

I'm sorry to all those people out there who like Pitino but I think he should get fired. In my eyes those are ridiculous things to still have your job. I think Josh Hamilton should be released from the Rangers. They signed him with a zero tolerance policy. Hold true to it, come on Nolan.

Hey Perez Hilton quit being a retard.

Twins Finally Winning On The Road

The Twins finally won a series on the road disposing of the Cubs 2 games to 1. Mauer continues to crush the ball and will hopefully have enough at bats to qualify for the batting title by the end of the season.

Now, I am introducing a new report daily that will detail the on field exploits of two Dover-Eyota graduates high competitive baseball. Travis Meiners playing for the St. Cloud River Bats in the wood bat collegiate Northwoods League and Ben Barrone playing professionally for the Midwest Sliders of the Frontier League.

Last Night:
Barrone, DH 3-3, R, 3 1B, .271, 1, 3
Meiners, DNP Injured .222, 0, 1

Just a Few Things

It looks like the Ravens are trying to sign Matt Birk. This would a horrible thing for the Vikings to lose such a great guy, a hometown guy, a smart guy. He went to Harvard and grew up in the Twin Cities. On top of that he is a true class act. The Vikings and Zygi Wilf need to stop worrying so much about the new stadium and sign Birk. He has contributed greatly to the success of Adrian Peterson in the last two years.

All the Gopher fans out there know that tonight's game against Wisconsin is a must win. Goldy is hanging off the NCAA Tournament cliffside right now hoping to win these last games. If we can't do that then we need to win the Big Ten Tournament which we have never done. I hope that after beating the Badgers at the Kohl Center, which was amazing, we can beat them at the Barn. During the last ten years the Gophers and every Minnesota pro sports team has flirted with greatness only to let down their fans, just ask the Gopher football team and I think everyone remember someone missing their only field goal of the year in the biggest game of the year ten years ago. I hope this isn't another one of those big letdowns.

Twins Lose First Spring Training Game of The Year

The Twins lost their first Spring Training game of the year today to the Red Sox 2-1. Positive of course is Slowey's line. Two scoreless, hitless innings. Our starting pitchers are doing great so far this spring with the only exception probably being Liriano's start yesterday when he gave up three runs, but I'm sure he'll be fine by the season's start.

I just heard that Joe Nathan won't be playing for the US team in the World Baseball Classic. That is too bad for the US team but for the Twins it is pretty good. We need him for the whole season. Taking it easy for the Twins will be okay. Looks like Morneau and Jesse Crain will be the only guys playing in the Classic from the Twins. They will both will be playing for the Canadian team.

My early predictions for the World Baseball Classic will be Japan repeating their title in '06 and beating the Dominican Republic team in the final. I want to pick the US team but I just think they don't have as much camaraderie as the Japanese and the Dominicans. The Dominicans were extremely upset with the way they finished in '06. Big Papi will lead them far. The WBC gets under way early Thrusday morning in Japan in the Tokyo Dome. This year it is double elimination which should help out a lot with eliminating horrible early-round games.
